Thanks to the generous donations from our sponsors, we have completed construction of new classrooms in Bajawa. This new facility will serve over 200 students and provide a safe, comfortable learning environment.
The construction began in March 2024 and was completed in just 6 months, thanks to the incredible effort of local volunteers and skilled workers. The new building includes 4 classrooms, a library, and clean restroom facilities.
## The Journey
When we first visited Bajawa three years ago, the children were studying in a dilapidated building with leaking roofs and broken walls. During rainy season, classes would often be cancelled because the classrooms would flood.
Our team worked closely with the local community leaders and school administrators to design facilities that would withstand the tropical climate while providing a welcoming learning environment.
## What's Inside
The new facility includes:
- 4 spacious classrooms with proper lighting and ventilation
- A library stocked with 500+ books donated by our partners
- Clean restroom facilities with running water
- A small computer lab with 10 refurbished computers
- A playground area for physical activities
## Impact
Since the new building opened, enrollment has increased by 30%, and attendance rates have improved significantly. Teachers report that students are more engaged and enthusiastic about learning.
"I used to dread rainy season because I knew my students wouldn't come to school," says Mrs. Wati, a Grade 3 teacher. "Now they come every day, rain or shine. The new building has changed everything."
